A NOTE FROM JOHN WATERS

how could i top an invitation from John Waters to send him my work.......
what could I offer to the maker of "FEMALE TROUBLE" and "WOMEN IN REVOLT"......
I'm working on this, nevertheless, and have several hours of "footage" ready for editing......
Maybe a spot on IFC is forthcoming!

3-D's coming back!

In the 50's, i eagerly awaited any 3-d movies.....they were ALL great! I heard, recently that hi-def 3-d presentations will be aired on television this season......and since i already have every conceivable type of 3-d glasses......bring them on! It was worth the drive to haul ass to Chattanooga to watch Siegfried and Roy, Even....you gotta have a gimmick as Ethel declared in "Gypsy"......I'm listening out for 3-d sound.....with 7 channels of digital audio, sounds can be placed at precise points and moved as the artists wishes......total immersion! Oled-panelled rooms with many small, hi-def speakers..........a form of holographic imaging is already moving into Iphones!

because she seems not only to know exactly what's on her mind, but what's on your's too.......she knows about feelings, and about the facts of Life.....

Cary

My first cinema role model was Cary Grant......he was funny, comfortable in his own skin....and whatever he was wearing, obviously......a master of tasteful double entendre and a really sharp dresser....

Margaret Rutherford for the Brits, Virginia Mayo for Ameica, and Bardot for the French

Often, there were different versions of films for varying countries.....Whereas Americans got provocative pointy bosoms, cinched waistes and heels far from the floor, the French and Swedes were always more daring and naturalistic....the Englishwomen wore stubby heavy heels and thick clothing....."Please, we're British!"......It was not until I was in college that my tastes moved to Paris......the jazz was good there, too..

THE RING.....

Operatic Wagner....well, no......expressionistic German film versions......i can't get enough!
I'll bet Ingmar Bergman couldn't get enough of this stuff either.....

NOT SO HIGHBROWWWWWwww

My first exposure to opera was via old Jeanette MacDonald films on afternoon television......even now I prefer operatic films to live opera performances..
My stepfather, Tom, took me to my first live opera......"The Ballad of Billie Doe"...a real "American" opera......I loved "Carmen Jones" and "Porgy and Bess" of course.....in cinema format, however........Then, in my 20's I attended a "Ring Cycle" at the Met.......I'd rather have sat through a 12-hour Kabuki Theatre performance....which I later did...in London, when the Imperial Kabuki Theater first performed outside Japan.....Then, there was Gilbert and Sullivan...which I found to be so much fun.......but.......NOT SO HIGHBROWWWWWWwwww......today, I'd rather be shot than sit through a Philip Glass Opera.....Pleezzze!

I love you Phillip Morris, but not the lingering "CODE"

after having a crush on Ewan for years........Jim! What did I do wrong? Jim Carrey!....I am totally devastated! Gay Cinema hits the metroplex.....

a far cry from a less modest Ewan:

eat your hearts out, Jonathan and Christian.....and Jim!

THE AMERICAN TRAILER:

but, not so far from this, i think..less the full Monty.
THE "FRENCH" COMING ATTRACTION TRAILER:

I Love You Phillip Morris, has languished undistributed domestically for more than a year, even after a strong showing at its Sundance debut in 2009. “At Sundance everyone assumed it would be snapped up,” says McGregor, “but it wasn’t.” Perhaps one reason is that the central character is an unlovable (or uneasily loved) sociopathic scammer. But a more likely reason is that in cells, on bunks, on boats, before sunsets, after sunsets, on divans, over ottomans, without panning away or dissolving to white, the two men kiss, fondle, fuck, blow, suck, hold hands, dance, murmur, and eye. In short, they act like lovers do, and, because both Morris and Russell are openly gay men and their gayness seems not to trouble them in the slightest, this is a dicey commercial proposition. “There was talk,” says McGregor, “that Disney fended off the release until after A Christmas Carol came out. They didn’t want kids thinking [Carrey’s] Ebenezer Scrooge was a bender.” I know of one edit that was forced for any hope for distribution.....the scene wherein Morris, after sucking up Morris' cum, spits the ejaculate over the side of the ship rather than snarfing it down with obvious pleasure, as in the original cut......
