Jimmy, a favorite actor and Simone, a favorite actor......both, i feel, under-rated......Not that a film about a romance between a sewer worker and a girl on the lam would take the main stage..In a year that THE LIFE OF EMILE ZOLA got the statuette, they were still not in the running......in the era of Melodrama with lugubrious strings, as Art......Noir was around the corner, having been abandoned for Talkies......but not quite yet, I suppose.
